Explanation (?):

The certificate services service is used in creating, managing and removing x.509 certificates. This service is only required on a server that is trying to use certificate authenticated features such as secure/multipurpose Internet mail extensions (S/MIME) and the secure sockets layer (SSL) for such things as the secure HTTP protcol. To manage these certificates this service must be started and a 3rd party must sign (authorize) them for them to operate correctly. This service is best left running on a server unless you know you will not need it.

"The clock of life is wound but once, and no man has the power to tell just when the hands will stop, at late or early hour. To lose one's wealth is sad indeed, to lose one's health is more, to lose one's soul is such a loss that no man can restore. The present only is our own, so live, love, toil with a will. Place no faith in tomorrow, for the clock may then be still." --Anonymous author
